RESUMO:
The present study aims to analyze the applicability of the Business Model Canvas as a tool for the strategic management in hotel enterprises. That model is characterized as a recent paradigm in the business context regarding business management modeling. It is composed by nine components that together form the so-called ideal structure for the development of a business model (Pigneur and Osterwalder, 2011). On methodological terms, this study has an exploratory character and a qualitative approach. Regarding the technical procedure, this is a quasi-experimental study with two hotels, the first one is treated as the object of the research experiment and the second one as the control object. The present research involves a triangulation of data collection techniques. The first technique is accomplished through a semi-structured interview that will be applied with managers of hotel enterprises, then a documentary analysis will be performed and finally, the participant observation technique will be used. Regarding the analysis of the collected data this research will carry out a content analysis from the results obtained in the triangulation of the data collection. It is expected, therefore, that this study contributes to the discussion of management practice in the application of a new managerial tool in the hotel section which aligns theoretical, empirical and methodological aspects.
