TÍTULO:

Development of inclusion complexes of Copaifera multijuga oil and cyclodextrins: physicochemical characterization and in vivo study.

PALAVRAS-CHAVES:

Copaifera multijuga Hayne, copaiba oil, inclusion complex, cyclodextrin, anti-inflammatory activity.

PÁGINAS: 62
RESUMO:

Complexation in cyclodextrins is useful way to increase the aqueous solubility and improve the stability of oils, as well as turn the liquid into solid material. The present work aimed the development of inclusion complexes of Copaiba Oil (CO), which presents anti-inflammatory activity, with β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) and hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (HP-β-CD) by kneading (KND) and slurry (SL) methods. Physicochemical characterization was realized to verify if occurred interaction between and cyclodextrins, through of Fourier transform infrared, scanning electronic microscopy, powder X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetry and differential scanning calorimetry. Furthermore, an in vivo anti-inflammatory assay of CO complexed or not with cyclodextrins was performed. Physicochemical characterization indicate that there was the formation of inclusion complex with β-CD by KND and SL methods. In vivo mouse-paw edema induced by carrageenan showed that β-CD and HP-β-CD inclusion complexes by SL method maintained the anti-inflammatory activity of crude CO, indicating that both β-CD and HP-β-CD complexed CO through SL method. In conclusion, the present show the potentiality of CD’s as an efficient tool for improve solubility and stability of CO, maintaining its pharmacological activity.
