RESUMO:

INTRODUCTION The regular practice of physical activity and aerobic exercises, besides the reduction of sedentary time, are extremely important for the prevention of cerebrovascular and cardiovascular diseases. The low level of physical activity, which is one of the main modifiable risk factors for stroke, along with smoking, hypertension, high lipid and glycemic indexes, can also influence the possibility of new events, besides the low incentive and absence of therapeutic strategies to increase the level of physical activity in these patients. Could a higher level of physical activity before stroke influence the reduction of sedentary behavior after stroke? Given these points, the aim of this study will be to analyze the level of physical activity and sedentary behavior before and after stroke. METHODOLOGY Cross-sectional observational study, divided into 3 phases, where the first will assess the levels of physical activity before and after stroke of patients treated at FACISA / UFRN and CER. In the 2nd phase, physiotherapists from the region will be asked, through an online questionnaire, if there is insertion of aerobic exercises at an outpatient level, instructions or self-management programs. In the third phase, development of a self-management program to increase the level of physical activity and reduce sedentary behavior of post stroke patients. RESULTS (Phase 1) After analyzing 20 patients, a significant difference was found between the values collected on the Baecker scale before and after stroke, showing that the low level of pre-stroke physical activity became even lower (Z -3.099 ep < 0.002), besides a strong correlation between Baecker scales after stroke and PAH.
