VALIDATION OF CONTENT AND APPEARANCE OF A BOOKLET ON POPULAR HEALTH SURVEILLANCE

SUMMARY:

Introduction: This study is part of a larger research and extension project entitled "Training for Popular Health Surveillance for the Territories", with an exploratory-analytical and health intervention character. This surveillance perspective encompasses initiatives led by the population in defense of health and biodiversity in the face of situations of human rights violations and socio-environmental injustices. Objective: To develop and validate an educational booklet on Popular Health Surveillance, in order to make it a self-instructional instrument for multiplying training for territorial-based popular health vigilantes. Method: This is a methodological development research, with the objective of elaborating, evaluating and validating an educational technology on Popular Health Surveillance, which will serve as a theoretical, informative and self-instructional tool for the training of popular vigilantes. The production of the booklet followed three main stages: (1) Planning of the educational technology, (2) Elaboration of the content and selection of illustrations and (3) Validation by the judges. The booklet was validated using the Delphi Technique, with methodological adaptation to include both Academic Knowledge (technical specialists and researchers) and Popular Knowledge (community leaders) judges selected through specific criteria. Two rounds of validation will be carried out: (i) application of questionnaires on content and appearance and (ii) a focus group with both groups of judges for final adjustments. The data collection instruments were formulated based on previous studies and applied via an online form, containing: consent form, characterization of the judges, guidelines for evaluation and validation questionnaires. The evaluation will follow the Likert scale, considering criteria such as content, clarity of language, illustrations, layout and motivation for learning. The data related to the content evaluation will be analyzed using the Content Validity Index (CVI) with a cut-off point ≥ 0.80. As for the appearance evaluation, the percentage of agreement with acceptance ≥ 90% will be considered. Preliminary results: This section presents three articles interconnected to the project. The first is an experience report on the articulation of popular surveillance in one of the municipalities contemplated by the matrix project, functioning as a practical example of the application of the booklet with the target audience (pilot test). The second article consists of a theoretical essay that discusses the concept of popular health surveillance, considering existing experiences in the Potiguar territory, serving as a theoretical basis for the project. The third article will address the validation of the booklet. Preliminary considerations: The experience report demonstrates that the booklet can be used effectively with the target audience, favoring community engagement in the identification of adversities, in the fight in defense of health and in the promotion of healthy, sustainable and solidary territories. The theoretical essay reflects on the concept and the political possibility of transforming reality from the actions of popular surveillance produced in the Potiguar territory. Finally, the validation study will show whether the booklet proves to be an accessible and effective educational tool in strengthening community articulation for the defense of health and good living in the territories.
