Temporal Analysis of Morbidity and Mortality Indicators in Children in Brazil and Northeast Region (2000-2019)
Mortality. Morbidity. Child Health. Hospitalization.
The morbidity and mortality of children in Brazil has shown a significant decline in recent decades, however, mortality rates remain high when compared to countries with a Human Development Index (HDI) considered very high, such as Australia and Japan, moreover, many of these countries data are still undersized due to regional inequalities, in addition to this, the problems that cause deaths are still very present and attract greater attention from effective public policies. In this projection, social inequities permeate a series of factors that affect everything from location, race/color, gender, injury and other conditions. The research aims to investigate the behavior of the TMI, TMinf coefficients, in addition to the children's MT and the Hospital Admission Rate. An ecological time series study was developed, based on secondary data on morbidity and mortality of children at different stages in Brazil and the Northeast Region from 2000 to 2019, also analyzing the percentage of race/color, sex and CID-10 chapter. The Joinpoint statistical software was used to analyze trends. In Brazil and the Northeast, a greater inflection of the IMR was observed between 2000 and 2014 (APC=-5.18; 95%CI:-5.5; -4.9) and (APC= -6.50; 95%CI: -6.9 and -6.1), respectively, compared to 2014 to 2019 (APC = -0.79; 95% CI: -3.1 and 1.2) and (APC = -0.98; 95% CI : -2.2 and 0.7), a similar trend in TMinf, with a greater inflection in the country from 2000 to 2014 (APC = -5.01; 95% CI: -5.3 and -4.7) and in the macro-region ( APC= 6.29; CI: -6.7 and -5.9), compared to 2014 to 2019 (APC = -0.9; 95% CI: -2.3 and 0.6) and (APC = -1 .06; 95% CI: -3.0 and 0.9). MT in children had a downward trend from 2000 to 2013 (APC= -1.02; 95% CI -1.3 and -0.8), compared to 2013 to 2019 (APC= -2.59; CI 95 % -3.4 and -1.8) in Brazil, and in the Northeast between 2000 and 2012 (APC= -0.30; 95% CI -0.8 and 0.2) and 2012 to 2019 (APC= -1 .70; 95% CI -2.8 and -0.6). For the Hospitalization Rate in Brazil, there was a greater downward trend from 2000 to 2010 (APC= -0.33 95% CI -0.8 and 0.2), in relation to 2010 to 2019 (APC= - 1, 00; 95% CI -1.6 and -0.4). In the Northeast, there was a greater inflection between 2000 and 2017 (APC= -0.76; 95% CI -1.1 and -0.4) and an increase in the number of internationals from 2017 to 2019 (APC= 2.45; 95% CI - 8.2 and 14.3). Children under 1 year of age had a higher number of victims and data by color/race were ignored, the male population had a higher percentage of deaths than the female sex in all groups and locations.
