RESUMO:

Introduction: The concept of identity has been worked from several perspectives, being, therefore, a polysemic concept. The literature that deals with the subject locates the identities as constructions that are related all the time with the personal, social, cultural, gender, sexual, professional, among others dimensions. We assume that secondary socialization influences the construction of professional identity. In this way it is relevant to understand to what extent the higher education guided by the new Curricular Guidelines for the medical course as well as the design of a competency-based curriculum. Objective: This study aims to analyze the perspective of the medical student of the Multicampi School of Medical Sciences in the construction of their professional identity in the first four years of the medical course. Methodology: This is a descriptive and exploratory study with a qualitative approach that uses the technique of data collection, the focus group and the documentary research. Through the analysis of thematic content, we intend to work on narratives from focus groups and documentary analysis, to discuss the political-social conjuncture established since 2014 with the opening of EMCM in Seridó potiguar. Discussion: EMCM's medical course follows the dictates of the More Doctors Program, seeking to encourage the establishment of graduates in the region. By using the inclusive policy of the regional inclusion argument, EMCM's mission seeks to implement a unique curriculum and teaching method for the provision and placement of the physician in a region subserved in the country, as well as the attempt to change the student profile egress that influences the construction of professional identity during the first four years of medical training.
