The objective of this study is to develop a historical interpretation of the trajectory of
History of Mathematics subject in the Mathematics Degree course
offered at the Seridó Higher Education Center (CERES) of the Federal University
of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). This work aims to respond to the
following research question: how does the History of Mathematics discipline
developed at the Seridó Higher Education Center of the Federal University of
Rio Grande do Norte from the perspective of teachers, students and the curriculum?
This is a study of a historical nature, as it analyzes the History of Mathematics
as a school subject in a given period and historical context, this being
one of the study perspectives in the research field of History of Education
Mathematics. Therefore, for this purpose, written sources were analyzed in this work.
(Pedagogical Political Projects and curricular structures of the course and the syllabus of the
discipline) and oral (interviews), so that these sources complement each other by
data triangulation method. In the analysis of oral sources, the
perspective of narrative analysis (of narratives). At the end of this study, it is expected
obtain as a result of the research an understanding of how the trajectory occurred
history of the History of Mathematics discipline, since it was implemented in
degree course in Mathematics offered at the Higher Education Center of
Seridó from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte to the present day.
