SUMMARY:

In the current stage of Globalization, information and communication technologies are increasingly present in the daily lives of all social agents. In Education, the teaching and learning process should not be carried out as it used to be, by means of expository class and task recommendation from the mnemonic perspective. It is pertinent that such technologies are used to make the educational process dynamic and contextualized to the daily lives of the social agents involved, thus enabling students to be protagonists in the process, developed with the mediation of the teacher. In this sense, focusing on the teaching of Geography in Elementary Education at the State School of Elementary and Secondary Education José Gomes Alves, located in the city of Patos, state of Paraíba – we aim to reflect on active teaching and learning methodologies in Geography, with the analysis of application of the FP methodology in an educational process carried out in the Elementary School of a public school in a city in the interior of the Brazilian Northeast – Patos (PB). With the methodological basis of the principles of action research, we are developing qualitative research in order to systematize the dissertation in three chapters: In the first, we theoretically reflect on active teaching and learning methodologies in Geography, focusing on FP. In the second, we characterize the research field school, in terms of its physical and pedagogical structure, the teaching of Geography and the target audience. With this characterization, we propose the development of a didactic sequence in Geography through the application of FP, with students of the 9th grade of Elementary School. Thus, in the third chapter, we will analyze the data resulting from this application, aiming, in essence, to unveil the following question: How the school teaching of Geography developed in a public school in the Brazilian Northeast interior can be positively impacted with the application of this active methodology of teaching and learning?
