RESUMO:

The audiovisual language suggests ways of understanding and dealing with geographical space. It is the recurrent use of this language by Geography teacher to "present" to the students various places and spatial phenomena, thus supporting his speech during a lesson. The understanding of its production, we can reflect on the audiovisual sector and how it can be used in the classroom without serving only as an illustration of geographic content. Thus, this research aims to understand the production of audiovisual language as a methodological procedure for Geography Teaching. In our analysis, we work with the genre mini-documentaries, audiovisual works of cinema, but also the not-filmmakers are interested in registering in image and sound social practices / space. The study was developed from a didactic experiment conducted in a public school in the city of Caico (RN) with students of the 2nd year of high school. In the project called DOCGEO, audio-visually represent the caicoense urban space, place of living of students. Methodologically, for data collection and analysis, we used a qualitative approach, through bibliographical and documentary research, participant observation, field notes, logbooks and record in photos, audio and video. From the discussion of geographical analysis of categories to work with the videos and the preliminary results of the research, we believe that the teaching method proposed is able to engage students in learning situations, making it participatory, critical and capable subjects to understand and produce knowledge school geographical. Enter into the audiovisual language can innovate the teaching practice, give meaning to the content and raise the critical-cultural and conceptual achievements of students who perceive reality (urban) and sensitized on ways to listen / look, think and live in space.
