REQUIREMENTS SPECIFICATION FOR THE UFRN TRANSPORT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM.
Fleet management; requirements elicitation; UFRN; operational efficiency; transport management system.
Transportation management in public educational institutions is a strategic component that, if poorly executed, can lead to significant operational and financial inefficiencies. At the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), the vehicle fleet represents capital worth approximately R$ 10 million, with annual operational costs of R$ 13 million. Effective management of this fleet is therefore critical for the institution's financial health. Furthermore, UFRN’s vehicles are not merely means of transportation; they enable research activities, deliver university outreach programs to the community, support teaching, and facilitate fieldwork. To enhance this management, the use of a Fleet Management System proves essential. This project aims to contribute to the creation of such a system by identifying and specifying the requirements necessary for developing software tailored to UFRN's fleet management needs. The methodology includes conducting focus groups with stakeholders to gather crucial information for drafting an appropriate requirements document. The expected outcome is a comprehensive requirements document that guides the development of software capable of automating processes, integrating data, and providing analytical functionalities. This system will address the specific needs of UFRN's Transport Coordination Office, contributing to cost reduction, improved service delivery to the university community, and enhanced operational safety and efficiency.
