SOCIAL MEDIA FOR PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES: A PROPOSAL FOR A COMMUNICATION GUIDE
Organizational Communication; Public University; Social Media; Digital Social Networks
With the advent of an increasingly mediatization society (Hjavard, 2014, 2023), there has also emerged the need for public administration to adapt to this new context in order to communicate effectively with the public. In this regard, the aim of this study is to propose the development of a guide for the use of digital social networks targeted at public universities. The rationale for this proposal is that, in this context, organizations have become more exposed and vulnerable to crises (Silva and Baldissera, 2020), necessitating guidance adapted to the platforms. To develop the guide, bibliographic research was conducted on organizational communication,
mediatization, and misinformation, as well as a qualitative-quantitative study, which included distributing data collection instruments to the managers of the institutions' social media, and an analysis of twelve existing manuals. The developed technical product will assist organizations in their social media activities, enhancing their communication, image and reputation management, and preventing adversities.
