SUMMARY:

Programming education faces a growing challenge in the need for customizable and scalable educational resources. This work explores the creation of an automatic programming question generator to address this need. There are two main approaches to automatic question generation: the first is based on Artificial Intelligence (AI), which operates without predefined models but requires a large amount of data and suffers from limitations in the quality of the generated questions. The second approach is template-based, allowing flexibility and the rapid creation of many questions, but it faces the issue of "repetitive questions," where the generated questions are similar to each other. The innovation of this work lies in the application of multi-layer templates, which solve the similarity problem by enabling greater manipulation of question elements. This increases the number of possible combinations and the diversity of questions. This approach simplifies the complexity of generated questions through a combination system, making it easier for subject matter experts to understand and enabling the clear definition of permissible value combinations. The main contribution of this work is its practical approach to addressing challenges in programming education and the application of advanced computing concepts to solve real-world problems. Preliminary results show an improvement in educational practice, presenting a viable and promising solution to the challenges faced by programming teachers.
