Development and Evaluation of a Software to Support Experiments with Interactive Systems based on Brain-Computer Interface
HCI, BCI, electroencephalography, EEG, MindWave, consumer-grade.
Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs) enable interaction with computers through the user’s brain activity. In recent years, the BCIs have been gaining prominence due to technological advancements. In the context of BCIs, electroencephalography (EEG) is a common method for scanning brain activity. Among the available EEG devices, we can highlight the NeuroSky MindWave. This work presents Software designed to support BCI researchers in their studies, specifically those which use the MindWave as EEG device. This work details the usage context of the Software and provides the necessary documentation to understand its functioning. The Software tools are described, and all functionalities are presented to showcase the possibilities that can be achieved using the developed Software. Lastly, the Software is evaluated through a pilot study. With the execution of the study, it was possible to verify the functionality of the Software in a BCI research scenario.
