SUMMARY:

The growing demand for sustainable energy solutions highlights the urgency of alternatives to the conventional energy matrix, based on fossil fuels and their environmental repercussions.In this context, thermoelectric energy conversion, which transforms temperature gradients into electricity, stands out as a promising approach. This thesis investigates the compound Ca3Co4O9 (C349), a thermoelectric material with exceptional properties, fundamental for optimizing efficiency in electricity generation.The research emphasizes the relevance of thermoelectric materials in maximizing the conversion of thermal energy and identifies gaps in the understanding of the working mechanisms and synthesis of these materials. C349, characterized by its complex crystalline structure and favorable electrical and thermal properties, emerges as an ideal candidate for practical applications. Using the Ultra-Fast High Temperature Sintering (UHS) technique, the research explores the densification behavior and microstructure evolution of C349.The results demonstrate that UHS improves densification and minimizes porosity, crucial aspects for thermoelectric efficiency. The experiments reveal that the combination of CaO and Co3O4, instead of using only the C349 phase, results in better densification and superior thermoelectric properties. Furthermore, optimization strategies are proposed to maximize the formation of the C349 phase and its desired characteristics. This research not only advances knowledge about thermoelectric materials, but also points to innovative directions in energy conversion, aligning with global demands for sustainable energy solutions.
