RESUMO:

The main role of the necropsy technician in a Decease Verification Service (SVO) is to assist the pathologist in clinical necropsy procedures, ie, involves direct contact with human corpses. This professional occupation is permeated by occupational risks and stigmas related to the work activity itself, thus justifying this study. Theoretical-methodological constructs of the Clinic of Activity were the main frame of this research, since the proposition of its general aim: to build, in partnership with necropsy technicians of an SVO, a clinical analysis of working activity, aiming at developing in participant workers their power of reflection, action and transformation of them in their own work context. The research was developed in an SVO of a city in the Northeast of Brazil, based upon two stages of data construction. All 13 technicians in necropsy adhered and participated in the first stage. A semi-structured individual interview aiming to bring to the analysis factors related to the professional career was the main target of this first stage. Initial motivators, current experiences and possible projects were explored here. The second stage was developed upon clinical dialogues with two workers, using the technique of Instruction to the Double. Data constructed in this research were interpreted in the light of the theoretical operators of the aforementioned approach. These data brought evidence of low visibility and social stigma associated with the professional occupation of necropsy technician. However, they recognized in general the social relevance of their professional occupation and showed personal identification with it. The main impediments to their job activity were salary conditions, material resources, relationship with management, conflicts in the group and the various deviations of function, which are perceived in different ways. During the clinical stage of this research, the pair recalled the potential mobilization of the group and reflected on the possible means to recover the collective power of acting.
