AREA: Recursos Florestais e Engenharia Florestal
SUBÁREA: Conservação da Natureza
SUMMARY:

In view of the importance of filling the gap in studies focused on forest species in the Atlantic Forest and their use by the local population, the objective of the work was to carry out a qualitative and quantitative study of the woody component in the José Mulato Municipal Natural Park to understand how the local population, with traditional knowledge, interferes with the floristic composition, horizontal and vertical structure and the fragment. The work was conducted at the Municipal Park José Mulato located in the municipality AREZ-RN. To obtain the data, twenty-five plots of 20 x 20 m were implanted at random, where all woody individuals with CAP≥15.7 cm were measured. The ethnoecological assessment will be initiated after approval by the Ethics Committee and will have the use value equation as statistical analysis, obtaining information from ten key informants. Sampling sufficiency of vegetation was obtained at 3,200 m². 784 individuals, belonging to 24 families, were inventoried, distributed in 54 species, 4 identified at family level and 15 not identified. The most representative families in number of individuals were Burseraceae (137), Anacardiaceae (134) and Fabaceae (74). Although the Fabaceae family has the smallest number of individuals in relation to Burseraceae and Anacardiaceae, it has the greatest species richness (five species). The species Tapirira guianensis had the highest impotence value (53,454) and the species Protium heptaphyllum had the highest absolute density (137), both present in all plots. Shannon's diversity index was 3.07 nats ind-1. Pielou's equability index was 0.77. As for the spatial distribution pattern, 55% of the species are distributed uniformly, 38% with a tendency to cluster and 8% in an aggregate manner. The diameter distribution presents the majority of individuals (63%) inserted in the first two class centers. The low number of individuals shows that despite being a recently created conservation unit and still without a management plan, it is too disturbed by the collection and extraction of wood for firewood. With the conclusion of the study of local and historical knowledge of the area, it will be possible to detail this prognosis effectively.
