SUMMARY:

This thesis aims to analyze the dynamics of household arrangements, which have at least one elderly person (65⁺), and how their social and intergenerational changes influence and are influenced beyond the impacts on the economy of longevity. In fulfillment of our objective, we will use the database of three demographic censuses (2000, 2010 and 2022) to reliably establish the composition of household arrangements and enable an evolutionary study. Using the database, we will establish a schematic framework of family arrangements with elderly people 65⁺ throughout this analyzed period with the help of sociodemographic variables combined with economic variables to correlate the influence of the elderly person or people in the household arrangement. Our data will be processed and analyzed using statistical software in SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) programming language. Our hypotheses support that household arrangements with elderly people and intergenerational coresidence are positively related; that the effects of household arrangements are stronger in intergenerational exchanges with impacts on the economy of longevity and that household arrangements are influenced by fertility and the extension of living conditions, thus impacting the economy of longevity. In our results in this qualification panel, we present an essentially descriptive analysis of the variables used in our work with considerations on the evolution of numbers, especially population aging and the presence of the elderly (65⁺) in the household arrangement, necessary preparations for the assembly of our final statistical model.
