SUMMARY:

In 2003, the Bolsa Família Program (PBF) was created from the union of existing income transfer programs, with the intention of reducing poverty, through the immediate transfer of monthly income to families in Brazil in situations of extreme poverty poverty, through educational and health counterparts. One of the supposed indirect effects of the program is on the fertility of beneficiary families, which has been the subject of academic studies. In the field of demography, such studies focus on period and not cohort information, due to the difficulty of availability of longitudinal data. In this sense, this thesis intends to contribute to the debate, through the analysis of longitudinal data from the study of the Cohort of 100 million Brazilians (C100), which contains about 130 million records, with 195 panel variables, from the 2001 period. to 2018, being a base composed of records from the single registry, which allows the crossing of data with different health information systems. Considering the relationship between education and aspects of adolescent fertility, this research aims to investigate whether receiving Bolsa Família promotes educational mobility among adolescent mothers residing in the “Northern Semiarid Region” (SemiSet), when compared with non-beneficiaries. Furthermore, if the influence of the PBF on mobility is verified, what is the effect of this mobility on aspects of adolescent fertility? If not, does the PBF still have an effect on aspects of adolescent fertility? Therefore, quasi-experimental methods will be used, specifically propensity score matching (PSM), to develop models that compare the effects of the investigated treatment between artificial comparison groups. With the PSM, it will be possible to identify differences in the effect of treatment for the cohort, through exploration subgroups stratified by information: mother's parturition; maternal age at first child; level of education in the maternity ward; mother's education level; marital status and race and color.
