SUMMARY:

Savanna ecosystems in semi-arid regions play a crucial role in global water and carbon cycles. Many researchers have investigated the hydrometeorological effects on carbon exchange and water use efficiency in these ecosystems, which play a key role in the global water and carbon cycle. These are highly sensitive to seasonal and interannual climate variations. Despite its importance, few studies investigate the relationship between carbon flux and water use efficiency in savannas. Therefore, in this study, we will describe 4 years (2010-2013) of data covering carbon and water fluxes in two areas of tropical savannas with different rainfall characteristics. The objective is to analyze the hydrometeorological effects on the water use efficiency of tropical savannas under different climatic seasonalities at different time scales. The increase in the frequency and severity of droughts is expected to have a profound impact on ecosystem structures and functionality, showing us results that differ from one habitat to another.
