The impacts related to the urban climate can be associated with urban development patterns, highlighting the urban heat island phenomenon (ICU). Therefore, in this research, the objective is to identify occurrences of UCI in urban centers in Brazilian regions during the period from 1981 to 2019. For this purpose, data from daily observations of meteorological variables precipitation, maximum temperature, minimum temperature, relative humidity were used. and wind speed for the aforementioned period, from the National Institute of Meteorology. In addition, EraInterim reanalysis was used for the downscaling process in the input data of the numerical model Weather Research and Forecast (WRF). The study methodology consisted of identifying the ICUs in the largest Brazilian urban centers through the observed data from meteorological stations and numerical modeling. Thus, first, the ICU was identified from the time series of the minimum temperature, verifying the frequency of the elevation within the normal distribution values, with the arithmetic mean of five percent of the highest temperatures in the sample on three consecutive days. Subsequently, the investigation was carried out using the regional WRF model, using the factor separation technique. The preliminary results showed variations in the temperature scale with changes in the parameters, in São Paulo, the first city studied.
