RESUMO:

The gravity waves can be defined as wavelike disturbances, almost periodic, which is horizontally and vertically propagate in the atmosphere, with characteristic periods of a few minutes to order three hours and spatial scale from a few kilometers to thousands of kilometers. The vertical propagation of gravity waves is a subject of particular interest, since they carry energy and momentum to the region of the lower termosphere to upper mesosfera. Hines published in the 1960s a series of studies suggesting that gravity waves of demonstrations provoke ionospheric disturbances (Travelling Ionospheric Disturbances, TID's). Thereafter several authors showed that the gravity waves and their ionospheric manifestations as TID's represent an important source of interaction between the neutral atmosphere and ionized and changes morphology and electrodynamics this ionosphere. The mechanisms of generation of gravity waves in regions close to the magnetic equator are often unknown making it difficult to understand the phenomenology of these structures, which suggests that this is an important topic in the media climatology studies and upper atmosphere. So we have to investigate what would be the main source of gravity waves near the magnetic equator, as well as understand how is the stratosphere-thermosphere coupling. In our studies of the gravity waves will use temperature profile data covering the geomagnetic quiet and disturbed periods, which shall include the solar cycles 23 and 24, and study periods between maximum and solar minimum.
