There are currently around 7,000 languages spoken in the world. Many groups use languages that are so distinct that efficient communication between them is impossible. The massive migration of individuals, occupying very different niches, geographical isolation between groups, the capacity for vocal plasticity and prosociality are considered factors that have given rise to the diversity of languages spoken by humanity. If this hypothesis is correct, we would expect that other species that exhibit the same characteristics should also show diversity in communication structure, i.e. dialects. Marmosets (Callithrix jacchus) have occupied different ecological niches, show vocal plasticity and are one of the few primate species considered prosocial. In this project, we looked for vocal differences between two wild groups of marmosets (Callithrix jacchus). We used two groups, Água and Bosque, which do not interact with each other and are free-living animals that live in the Açu National Forest. For the recordings we used passive acoustic recordings, where recorders were fixed to the animals' resting and sleeping trees, the interaction with the animals is minimal and makes it possible to capture the vocalizations over the course of a year. Our data show that the duration of the vocalizations between the two groups does not differ statistically during the year and in the dry and rainy seasons. With this, we can affirm that the two groups of marmosets (Callithrix jacchus) have vocal similarities, making their vocalizations similar.
