SUMMARY:

This work analyzes the discourse of journalistic chronicles about the covid-19 pandemic, published by Agência Saiba Mais, in the first half of 2020. We investigated 11 texts based on theoretical contributions from Communication and Discourse Analysis (AD) of Franco-Brazilian line (Orlandi, 2012). The theoretical-methodological concepts of our research are intertextuality (Kristeva, 1968, 1969, 2005, 1970; Koch, Bentes & Cavalcante, 2008), enunciative heterogeneity (Authier-Revuz, 1990, 1998, 2004, 2008, 2011) and interdiscursivity (Maingueneau, 2004, 2008, 2015, 2016, 2020; Pêcheux, 1971, 1995, 2015). Regarding the journalistic chronicle, we used the approaches of Melo (1992, 1994, 2012); Beltrão (1980); Sá (2005); and Rey (2017). The examination of discourse, literally, and of the gaps of saying showed that the texts are nuanced by discursive collages, semitic movements and ideological-discursive formations tending to the political left. What you have, at the textual level, are words full of meaning, which is a reflection of the opacity of language, and a representation of the psychological state and the “state of affairs” in the pandemic space-time in Rio Grande do Norte. Regarding intertextuality, we identified examples of explicit, implicit, thematic, typological and stylistic modalities. In relation to interdiscursivity, daily, literary, philosophical, scientific, religious, journalistic, political-economic, military, historical and musical discourses predominated. In regard to enunciative heterogeneity, we focused our investigation on metaphors, analogies, stereotypes, ironies, DD, DI, metaenunciative glosses and foreignisms. It was possible to conclude that the chroniclers used intertextuality, interdiscursivity and enunciative heterogeneity to inform, opine and expand the network of references with the reader, with a view to addressing the message and gaining the reader's attention, in a context of global health crisis.
