Corporate Social Responsibility and Cybersecurity in the tourism sector: A study in light of Travel techs
Startups. Corporate social responsibility. Data protection. Technology. Tourism
Continuous access to the internet has allowed an increase in data generation between users and companies. This data includes information about tourist destinations, personal data, purchase history, bank and credit card details. The main characteristics of the data indicate vulnerability, due to the sensitivity of this information. Therefore, the alert for data protection and privacy appears. Considering the possibility of information leakage, it is necessary to adopt measures that minimize the impact. With this in mind, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) emerges, which deals with aspects that companies must develop to be a good corporate citizen. Therefore, the objective of the research is to characterize the role of Corporate Social Responsibility (consisting of legal, economic, ethical and philanthropic responsibility) in the development of cybersecurity actions in Travel Techs. The object of study is travel techs, which are companies that have technological solutions to improve tourism processes. The characteristic of offering travel tech products and services online may be considered an agent of data breach risk, therefore, it is important to study what actions are taken to protect them. The methodology used is based on qualitative research supported by the content analysis of Bardin (2016), carrying out empirical research focusing on the analysis of multiple studies. The sample is made up of aspiring startups that are linked to business incubators in the state of Rio Grande do Norte. The results are expected to highlight the data protection benefits of using CSR as a cybersecurity measure in travel techs, as well as the main difficulties encountered.
