SUMMARY:

The research project discusses the problem of tourism teaching from its epistemological assumptions to a new challenge of integrating the principles of sustainability that underlay real prosperity in tourist destinations. Looking at the curriculum of higher tourism courses through a diagnosis and measurement of current pedagogical didactic practices the initial bibliographic review that supports this study brings theoretical foundations widely defended by authors such as Singer, Irvining and Porter resulting in some categories that will support research in the field. Self-management, solidarity, participation, environmental awareness stand out as crucial variables in the practice of responsible tourism that provides the improvement of quality of life for visiting receiving communities. It is important that in the training of tourism logos have concomitant skills, not only, interventional to inculcate these values in the different actors of tourism activity, the public sector that coordinates planning plays a strategic role in this transformation in the mode of consumption and tourist practice. As a qualitative and quantitative research seeks to describe the phenomena and assumes the categories identified in the literary review pointed out as the main ones (self-management, solidarity, well-being, environmental awareness), from of the social, cultural, economic, demographic and even political dimensions in an analytical way to understand its operationalization and consequently the adoption of methodologies leading to a pedagogy of development of a tourism towards the solidarity economy.
