RESUMO:

Saltworks are artificial ecosystems that are exploited to produce salt. These environments of extreme conditions constitute a particular habitat for several species. In environments considered as "extreme", organisms must adapt to stressful environmental conditions. The functioning of saltworks is strongly influenced by biotic factors such as biodiversity and its interspecific interactions, which are linked to abiotic factors. The great variations of the abiotic factors in the extreme ecosystems allow to explain the causal relations between them, as well as the structure of the communities that live there. Species living in such habitats have developed adaptation strategies to survive and reproduce. Few studies have been carried out in saltwork environments, despite the important role played by the communities living in this environment, above all the ecological aspects of the biota of certain hypersaline environments that are still little known. In this context, the saltwork SALINOR is an example that’s particularly interesting to be studied because of its great diversity of species and environments. Several ecosystems are found in the vicinity of SALINOR, such as areas of mangroves, salt flat areas and fragments of vegetation of the Caatinga. Based on the bibliographical survey, 14 types of services were identified, of which 1 belonged to support services (habitat), 3 regulation services, 5 provision services, and 4 (cultural) information services. Most of the works consulted were classified as support services (n = 16, 40% of the total), where biodiversity maintenance represented 100% of these works. The second category corresponds to provision services (n = 10, 25% of the total). Regarding the regulation category, four studies dealt with the maintenance of water quality (57.14%), one study dealt with climate regulation (14.29%) and another two talked about pest and disease control (28.57%). . The values referring to a category of tourism information (n = 5, 45%), cultural values (n = 3, 27.27%), historical values (n = 2, 18.18%) and finally, The Importance for scientific research (n = 1; 9%).
