Guide for transition of care after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation: methodological study.
Transitional Care; Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation; Patient Safety; Nursing Care; Bone Marrow Transplantation.
Effective coordination of the transition of care between healthcare services during patient transfer results in quality care and is an important strategy for operationalizing continuity of care. However, patients requiring complex care, such as oncohematological patients, require effective care from the team involved, based on their clinical condition. To this end, the use of tools to systematize care and promote the adoption of standardized processes for effective communication during the transition of post-transplant patients between services is essential. The objective is to validate the content, appearance, and assess the usability and effectiveness of a booklet for transition of care after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. This is a methodological study and a quasi-experiment divided into two phases. The first consists of the development of the booklet, organized through three procedures: theoretical, in which a focus group will be held with nursing professionals from the oncohematology area of a reference hospital in bone marrow transplantation; empirical procedures, which will be the construction of the booklet and validation of its content, appearance and usability through the Delphi technique with the participation of judges from the area; and analytical procedures, aimed at analyzing the data, through the content validation coefficient and level of agreement. The second stage will assess the booklet's effectiveness. To this end, the group for effectiveness evaluation will be defined as patients who underwent hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, followed by a pre-test, intervention development, post-test, and subsequent data analysis. These data will be tabulated and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics in the Statistical Package for Social Sciences for Windows. The study will be submitted to the Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte and will be conducted upon approval.
