SUMMARY:

Objective: To determine the prevalence of congenital syphilis and associated factors in pregnant women with syphilis. Method: This is a systematic review with meta-analysis, based on the recommendations of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). For the construction of the guiding question, the mnemonic PICO (Population, Intervention, Control, Results, Study Design) will be used. The search will be carried out in the following databases: PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, PsycINFO, Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences, Scopus and The Cochrane Library. As a search strategy, it will adopt the descriptors indexed in the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH): Gravidity; Labour; Syphilis; treponemal infections; Congenital syphilis; Observational study, mediated by the Boolean operator "AND". As inclusion criteria, observational studies that reflect the profile of pregnant women with syphilis and newborns diagnosed with congenital syphilis at birth will be included. There will be no language restriction for study selection. Case series, case reports, randomized controlled and quasi-experimental studies will be excluded. The period foreseen for the development of the systematic review is six months. As a way of selecting studies and extracting data, two reviewers will participate independently and blindly. To assess the quality of the evidence of the included data, the Assessment, Development and Assessment of Recommendation Rating (GRADE), method was chosen, while the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale was used for the risk of bias analysis. The review protocol was sent to the database of the International Prospective Registry of Systematic Reviews, with registry number CRD 42022349359. Expected result: Through the review, the study aims to contribute to the formulation of measures that favor the control of the mother-child transmission.
