The malandra is the very image of a woman who smiles at life with a hint of mischief. Walks lightly with grace, carrying in her body resilience, and in her soul, irreverence. Samba as if provoking the world and its madness, challenging the masculine. With loose steps and a keen gaze, through the alleys of the city and history, she escapes stumbles with the swagger that only the Brazilian tricksters know. In the rhythm of samba and life, she gracefully challenges a patriarchal system that tries to tame her. Tilted hat, insinuating smile — beware
— for beneath her skirt she hides a razor: a symbol of power, protection, and rebellion. In the Afro-Brazilian worldview, this woman is not just a character: she is Maria Navalha, an entity of strength, mystery, and sacred mischief. It is about her that this research focuses, in a scenic composition that unites dance, theater, and audiovisual elements, reclaiming the historical, social, and spiritual senses that surround her. From listening, experiences, and encounters, a methodology is born with the smell of the street, the sound of drums, and the
memory of crossroads: the Samborê. A way of teaching and learning that doesnt;t fit into rigid molds. It's movement, transgression, and axé. Entering the world of malandragem is to get lost — and found — among terreiros, sambas, bohemias, and circles of knowledge. Thats why Samborê is not just a method.
It's a philosophy of body, of life, and of stage. He summons memories, summons bodies, and places us in the in-between spaces where ritual meets art, and the trickster — always her — guides our steps. In the alleys and yards, in the sambas and on the corners, the sway becomes a girl and the streetwise knowledge. Its art that blends with ritual and scene in celebration, with Maria as the master.
