SUMMARY:

This study investigates a performance by the Recife-based group Magiluth, whose creative process engages in a scenic rewriting of one of the most celebrated tragedies in Western dramaturgy: Hamlet, by William Shakespeare. Building upon the original text, the theatre collective developed a re-staging entitled Dinamarca, which premiered in 2017. Taking the dramaturgical composition of this performance as its primary analytical corpus, the research examines the strategies employed in the construction of Dinamarca’s dramaturgy through a comparative analysis of its textual, poetic, and theatrical dimensions. Methodologically, the work is structured as a case study of the performance Dinamarca. The study aims to contribute to the field of Performing Arts by offering a critical reflection on scenic rewriting as a creative strategy for the development of new dramaturgies.
