RESUMO:
The amygdaloid complex (AC) is a region located in the medial temporal lobe in primates, being a heterogeneous structure regarding its anatomy, physiology and neural network, composed of several nuclei and cortical regions involved in several functions. The AC nuclear delimitation works performed from Nissl slices were complemented by data from other types of markers, classifying the areas of AC in deep Nuclei, Surface Nuclei and remaining Nuclei. In additi on to large amounts of nuclei, AC is filled with white matter, responsible for input and output of information to other areas of the nervous system, as well as intrinsic information from AC. To know in detail the cyto architecture and cytochemical features of the nuclei (and their subdivisions) will allow the knowledge about the AC. We used the marmoset, an experimental animal that has been extensively explored in the neurosciences, which still lacks a detailed study on the AC anatomy. We have as objectives: To delimit the structures of the AC of the marmoset, through features Cito and myeloarquitethonics. The techniques of Nissl, Acetylcholinesterase and gallyas method were used, conferring cytoarchitectonic, histochemical and mieloarchitecture, respectively, to study the projection of the medial pulvinar nucleus for AC. We found a total of 13 nuclei in the AC, 4 of the deep nuclei group (lateral, basal, basal accessory and paralaminar) 5 superficial nuclei (anterior Cortical, posterior Cortical, lateral olfactory tract nucleus, periamigdaloid cortex, medial nucleus) and 4 remaining (central, anterior amygdaloid area, hippocampal amygdaloid transition and intercalated nuclei), and 2 subdivisions of the entorhinal cortex. As for mieloarchitecture, we find and name bundles of fibers located between the deep nuclei, separating those of the cortical areas and crossing the central nucleus. The positions and characteristics of these bundles and nuclei are quite similar to those found in studies with other primates, suggesting phylogenetic and anatomical preservation of AC. This detailed study of AC anatomy will be used in the study of projections of the medial pulvinar nucleus of the thalamus, which has projection to the AC, also contributing to anatomical studies of the thalamus projections to the AC. Another objective of the thesis is the study of the projection of the medial pulvinar nucleus to the striatum.
