RESUMO:

Among the different types of cancer, human papillomavirus is ranked as the second most common cancer in women worldwide and continues to be a serious public health problem in many underdeveloped countries. The most common for the formation of these tumors cause is infection with human papillomavirus (HPV). However, chemotherapy in the treatment of several cancers, including cervical are hampered by drug resistance. For these reasons, the search for new chemotherapeutic a biologically active component are of great importance, among them, the venoms of animals. Here, we explored the effect of venoms animals of two species of scorpions and Bothrops on cervical cancer using in vitro models. In vitro, the treatment of HeLa and SiHa cells with the venoms of Scorpions and Bothrops resulted in a significant inhibition of cell viability. Although the data are preliminary, our studies demonstrated that the venoms of Scorpions and Bothrops could inhibit the growth of cervical cancer by inhibited the viability of cervical cancer cells, which provides evidence indicating that the venoms of Scorpions and Bothrops may be a potential chemopreventive and/or chemotherapeutic agent for cervical cancer.
