Anguish  –  Freedom – Subjectivity – Paradox.

PAGES: 119
BIG AREA: Ciências Humanas
AREA: Filosofia
SUMMARY:
Contemporaneity seems not to have been able to understand the depth of the concept of anguish nor its relationship with the subject’s freedom and formation. A new understanding of the concept of anguish is understood as an emergency, based on the Søren Kierkegaard’s philosophical thought, deepening the reflection on the paradox of the teleological overcoming of morality and the foundations of hereditary sin. When looking at the history of literature, we see that the relationship between anguish and subjectivity is always recurrent. The strongest example is found in the Russian literature of Fyodor Dostoevsky, especially in the “anguished” Ivan Fyodorovich Karamazov, who, seeking to understand human nature in the face of its freedom, finds anguish in its various manifestations. Going far beyond a literary analysis, it is necessary to reread Dostoevsky’s work with the help of Kierkegaard’s existential concepts, making them a true hermeneutic key to literature, thus allowing a new possibility of analysis and a situation of meeting between the two authors.
