SUMMARY:

Public organizational governance aims to increase the chances of delivering good public services and policies to citizens. Through the application of leadership, strategy and control practices, governance enables the representatives of a public organization and its stakeholders to assess its situation and demands, direct its actions and monitor its functioning. Thus, governance serves to create favorable contexts for delivering the results expected by citizens, with sustainability. In this context, the public ombudsman's office acts as a support body for the strategic management of public institutions, such as the Federal Higher Education Institutions (IFES). The aim is therefore to analyze the ombudsman's informational contributions to the strategic management of RN's IFES. It is also necessary to verify the compliance of the ombudsman offices with the CGU's Public Ombudsman Maturity Model; map the Information Management and Knowledge Management processes in the ombudsman offices and identify the best practices in information and knowledge management in ombudsman offices. The research is characterized as mixed, mixing qualitative and quantitative elements; applied and exploratory; in terms of objectives, it is characterized as descriptive. In terms of research techniques, bibliographical research, documentary research, interviews with ombudsmen and institutional governance secretaries and a questionnaire with the internal community of the IFES will be used. Descriptive statistics will be used to analyze the quantitative data and content analysis will be used for the qualitative analysis. The expected results of this research are: a description of the correlation between the variables that impact on information and knowledge management in ombudsmen's offices and their performance in improving the services provided by their HEIs.
