Case study on the importance of the Memory of the Institute of Technical Assistance and Rural Extension of Rio Grande do Norte
Institutional memory; Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Institute of Rio Grande do Norte (EMATER-RN); Preservation.
This work deals with part of the memory of the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Institute of Rio Grande do Norte (EMATER-RN), focusing on the preservation of documents relating to the actions and experiences of its employees. The main objective is to carry out a diagnosis of the historical documentation currently stored in the institution's library, in order to identify its state of conservation, organization and potential contribution to enhancing institutional memory. The research uses the inductive method, with a qualitative approach, and is characterized as applied. The time frame includes documents produced between 1958 and 2004 and held in the EMATER-RN Library. To build the theoretical framework, databases such as the Capes Journal Portal, via CAFe Access, Google Scholar and the Reference Database of Information Journal Articles (BRAPCI) were consulted, highlighting authors such as Amaral, Matias and Sarvo (2024), Pollak (1992) and Nora (1993). As a final product, we hope to develop a diagnostic document that brings together EMATER-RN's institutional productions, which currently lack technical treatment, in order to enhance this collection and enable future research.
