SUMMARY:
In today's knowledge-driven society, fueled by digital interconnectedness, the flow and diversity of information are rapidly increasing. This scenario requires the management of reliable data and information as an essential resource for effective decision-making, highlighting information as a pillar of organizational success in the face of growing competitiveness and the need for innovation. In this context, information literacy emerges as an indispensable skill, fostering individuals' ability to locate, evaluate, and strategically use information. This research, part of the Professional Master's Program in Information Science offered by the Graduate Program in Information Science at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, aims to evaluate the information literacy of the members of the Thematic Committee on Innovation, Science, and Technology of the Federation of Industries of the State of Rio Grande do Norte in locating and using critical information to foster innovation as a factor of industrial competitiveness in the Local Innovation Ecosystem. Specifically, this study intends to: review the literature related to information literacy, innovation, and competitiveness in the context of Industry 4.0; analyze the relationship between information literacy and industrial innovation and competitiveness; and conduct a case study of the referred Ecosystem to characterize the Information Literacy developed in that environment, based on the standards and indicators proposed in the field. Grounded in constructivist epistemology and an inductive approach, and considering the study's objectives, the methodological procedures are based on exploratory research supported by literature review and documentary research. For the analysis of the research locus, a single integrated case study will be carried out. Expected outcomes include identifying the main challenges faced by the Committee members regarding information literacy and decision-making. Additionally, the research aims to propose a product containing strategies for managing reliable information and improving information literacy skills, focusing on fostering innovation in this organizational environment.
