SUMMARY:

Contemporary society is immersed in a vast network of data, which, in itself, does not represent information until it is processed and contextualized. In the context that involves the organizational environment, information can be understood as production consumption and a generating element of products and services and, therefore, one of the challenges today is precisely to organize, process and disseminate information with a view to supporting decision-making and promoting innovation in organizations. Therefore, Information Management, essentially, in the public sector, aims to ensure that information is managed effectively and efficiently, with the aim of promoting the quality of governance. The analysis of the information flow aims to contribute to offering a quality service, as it provides an evaluative study of the stages of the process, identifying obstacles and proposing suggestions for improvement. Thus, the study's general objective is to analyze the informational flow of vacancies in the simplified selection process for substitute/temporary teachers in federal higher education, with a view to identifying opportunities for optimization in light of the principles of Information Management. And, as specific objectives, we seek to: (a) understand how communication occurs between the Permanent Institutional Development Committee, the Departments and Specialized Academic Units and the Competition Coordination for sending information and documents related to the informational flow of the request processes, creation and availability of vacancies; (b) identify aspects related to Information Management that contribute to efficiency in the information flow, aiming to highlight practices and procedures that promote the agility and effectiveness of the process; (c) identify possible barriers or obstacles in the information flow during the selection process, such as delays in the dissemination of information or inadequate communication between those involved; and (d) propose the restructuring of the existing information flow regarding substitute/temporary professor vacancies in federal higher education teaching at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte. It will use a methodology characterized as applied research, of a qualitative and classified nature, according to the objectives, such as explanatory and exploratory. It will have employees from the Permanent Institutional Development Committee, the Competition Coordination and the heads of departments and Specialized Academic Units as the study universe. To define the research samples, non-probability sampling was chosen, for convenience, which will respond to the interview, aiming to meet the outlined objectives. Thus, the research is justified by its social relevance and contributes to achieving quality in the services offered by the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, since it advocates the evaluation and, consequently, the improvement of an already existing service. Furthermore, the study is appropriate for the academic field, as it will enable consultations and debates among those interested in the topic.
