RESUMO:

The landscape studies are related to Geography since its foundation, in which initially they were directed to the descriptions of the terrestrial surface. With the predominance of the NewtonianCartesian paradigm in the century XVIII, the sciences followed the cartesianism and quantitative perspective, including the Geography that specialized such as geomorphology, biogeography, pedology, climatology, among others. Against this perspective were the naturalists Humboldt, Ritter and Dokuchaev who analyzed the relations and dynamics between the elements that compose the landscape in a (rustic) systemic way, focused on the physiology of the landscape. In the 1930s with the emergence and rise of the General Theory of Systems, triggered by studies of holistic vision, impelling in Geography the development with great expressiveness in the Russian-Soviet and French schools the studies on Geosystems and Integrated Landscape Analysis, which served as base for the current studies of Physical Geography. The objective of this research is to study the landscape units. The general objective of this work is to compartmentalize and analyze the landscape units at the level of the geofácie (1: 50,000) on the eastern and Agreste coast of the RN, based on their physiognomy, besides identifying, characterizing and quantifying the total area and percentage, the dynamics of potentialities and fragilities of each unit will be analyzed. For this, this dissertation proposes the use of Geosystemic design formulated by Sochava (1977), the taxonomic system of the landscape (BERTRAND, 1972; DINIZ; OLIVEIRA, 2018), the stability analysis of the environment (stable, intergrade and unstable), and their potentialities and weaknesses (TRICART, 1977; SOUZA, 2000). To perform the mapping of the entire area, images of the Sentinel-2 satellite with spatial resolution of 10m will be used, manually vectored in the ArcGIS 10.4 software (Academic Version), in addition to being used for validation in field work a datasheet to standardize landscape elements information, Phantom Advanced 3 model drone, GNSS device for troubleshooting points and photographic records. Aiming to improve the methodology, it was applied to the municipality of Baía Formosa (RN), in which the landscapes were subdivided into one (1) natural region, called "Plains and sedimentary wetlands and subhumid plateaus"; 2 (two) geocomplexes, entitled "Wet coastal plains" and "Wet coastal plots", which, in turn, were compartmentalized in 11 (eleven) and 5 (five) geofácies respectively, predominating the geofácie Temporary Agriculture (sugar cane), mapped in 48.94% of the municipal area, which is equivalent to 125.05 km², then the Restinga Forest in the Tabuleiro with 13.80% of the area and 35.27 km². By following the next steps, the research will be expanded and improved for the entire field of study.
