RESUMO:

The town dwelling manifests materially in the landscape. It can be inserted as a mirror and conditioner of the social and economic mechanisms to understand the dynamics that involve agents, intentionalities and actions in the process of space production. The Closed Horizontal Condos appear in this context as alternatives to live in front of an urban scenario that is also contained by problems such as fear, insecurity and violence. This condition inclines us to observe the emergence of Closed Horizontal Condominiums in Campina Grande-PB not only as "viable alternatives" for the control of fear and insecurity, but as different uses of the soil used strategically through the appropriation of these feelings. Thus, the research has as a guiding question: how does fear and insecurity interfere in the process of production / organization of the urban space, configuring itself in the use of the Campina Grande soil? We aim to analyze the interference of fear and insecurity in the configuration of the urban land production / organization of Campina Grande, considering the horizontal condominiums closed from the 2000s. The theoretical basis is based on contributions such as the production of the space of Henry Lefebvre, urban land use theory found in David Harvey, social manifestations of fear and insecurity linked to the contributions of Zygmunt Bauman and Yi-fuTuan, in addition to more vertical questions about the problem based on the contributions of Maria Encarnação Sposito and Eda Maria Góes, who together with methodological procedures for conducting interviews with residents of condominiums and businessmen of the city, together with analysis of news related to crimes and violence, allow us to deepen the understanding of how closed horizontal condominiums are part of the logic of the real estate market in the city, using strategically the feelings of fear and insecurity to expand its possibilities of business and urban land use, in the social and spatial context of Campina Grande.
