Prediction of optimal constituent ranges of LC3 for oilwell cementing pastes based on response surface method (RSM)
Dry mixes, siliceous material, oil well, ternary binders.
This study focuses on the ideal mix of constituents (cement, calcinated clay, limestone, and gypsum) of LC3 (Limestone Calcinated Clay Cement) for oilwell cementing pastes based on the response surface method (RSM). Slurries with a density of 14.2 lb/gal (1.66 g/cm³) were prepared for the first cementing phase, and their consistency, rheology at 27 °C and 52 °C, and thickening time were investigated. Compressive strength, permeability, and ultrasound resistance were measured on the hardened pastes after 8 hours, 24 hours, and 7 days. The evolution of the hydrated phases over time was also studied using X-ray diffraction, thermal analysis, and scanning electron microscopy.
