In Search for cash transfer program: Building Family and searching Livelihoods in the Territory

This research investigates the relationship between cash transfer programs, particularly the Novo Bolsa Familia, and family formation in peripheral neighborhoods to the west of Parnamirim/RN. Using an ethnographic approach, it examines how residents utilize these socio-assistance resources to sustain and reproduce their family structures. Simultaneously, the thesis explores how the State is shaped through the interactions between individuals seeking these resources and the state agents responsible for managing the programs at the municipal level. The study highlights the interconnection between cash transfers, family formation, and the social conditions of the territory, emphasizing the importance of racial dimensions in social assistance policies.
