the people who frequented the neighborhood, thus creating the idea that Cidade Alta, like that
Ribeira, another historic neighborhood is “dead”, my research seeks to question that
imaginary, but the questions I intend are to be part of a specific place, based on culture, or
rather, on cultural production, that is why I want to have a dialogue with the historic
neighborhood. agents who resist and continue producing in the historic center, contributing
their conceptions about the Cidade Alta, what they think about this place, its problems and
the daily life of the historic center, but my exchange with these agents will also aim to carry
out an ethnography about this “culture maker” who cares, reflects and reports to the
neighborhood, to give a dimension of who these people are. Finally, it ethnographies and
describes these agents and their existing relationships between them and with political agents
(mayor, Department of Culture and local politicians) in order to understand what their
strategies and articulations are to obtain support in carrying out their events and productions.
thus ensuring that Cidade Alta has a series of activities, thus countering this discourse of
“death” by presenting a Cidade Alta that has power and “life” as a place of art, culture and
leisure.
