SUMMARY:

This work seeks to examine how a history of the backlands of Seridó is produced from the university and, from a historiographical analysis of the works written by the historian Muirakytan Macêdo (1964-2021), The penultimate version of Seridó – space and history in regionalism in Seridó and Rústicos cabedais: Patrimônio e cotidiano familiar nos sertões do Seridó (Séc. XVIII). The works mentioned above will delimit the time frame defined for the research, which includes the years 1999 and 2007, years in which the works were published. It is worth mentioning that, because our sources are historiographical productions constructed by a professional historian, our work is situated in the subarea of History of Historiography. The work is divided into three chapters. The first chapter deals with a critical and in-depth analysis of Muirakytan Macêdo's master's dissertation, entitled The penultimate version of Seridó – space and history in regionalism in Seridó. The second chapter contains a critical analysis of Muirakytan Macêdo's doctoral thesis, entitled Rústicos cabedais: Patrimônio e cotidiano familiar nos sertões do Seridó (Século XVIII). Finally, the third chapter opens the reflection on the changes that occurred between A penúltima versão do Seridó and Rústicos cabedais, especially when converted to book format.
