Versions of the backlands seen through the eyes of Wilson Nóbrega Seixas: non-academic writings in vogue (1962-2004)
History of the Sertões; Non-academic writings on history; Notions of history and Sertão; History of Historiography.
This paper addresses part of the work of Wilson Nóbrega Seixas. We take the writing of the erudite historian as the object of analysis, inspired by the intention of analyzing some of his works, namely: “Journey through the Province of Parayba” (1985) and “Paraíba in the 500 years of Brazil” (2000), to highlight the versions of the backlands constructed by the author. These are his main works, and Evandro da Nóbrega (2012) considers him an excellent researcher on the subject of the backlands. Given his relevance, we will start from Michel de Certeau's historiographical operation and Reihart Koselleck's history of concepts (2006) to study his social place, historiographical practice, writing, and the meanings of history and backlands that are given to read in his works. Furthermore, we seek the encounters of his writing with the IHGP project as well as the historicity or historical time of the works. We seek to discover such questions through reading the materials and through theoretical reflection on the history of historiography, to finally delve into the discussions that permeate the writing of history and the uses that create versions of the backlands in historical time.
