SUMMARY:

The demand for renewable energy is growing, and offshore wind energy is one of the options with high potential to be used by society. An offshore wind farm, due to its location in the maritime environment, faces restrictions that tends to increase the complexity of its operation and maintenance. To address these challenges, it is important to use tools that assist in operation and maintenance activities and decisions, such as the digital twin technology integrates physical and digital means for real-time monitoring of an asset or a production process and makes it possible to anticipate possible failures or unwanted events. The objective of the research is to develop a framework with guidelines for implementing digital twin in the operation and maintenance of offshore wind turbines. The research is characterized as descriptive, applied, and with a qualitative approach of inductive argumentation. The research was developed in four stages: (1) theoretical research, where exploratory research and a Systematic Literature Review were carried out, with analysis of 54 articles, (2) analysis of eight case studies on the use of digital twin (3) development of the conceptual model; and (4) validation of the conceptual model based on expert opinion - focus group. As a result, a framework with four dimensions is proposed: digital twin characteristics, implementation steps, digital twin components, and parameters for analysis. These dimensions provides guidelines for implementing the digital twin in offshore wind turbines by describing tools, applications and systems that can be used for this purpose. For future research, further exploration of the tools described is suggested, as well as to apply the digital twin to other assets of an offshore wind farm.
