PHARMACEUTICAL CONSULTATION OF PATIENTS USING ORAL ANTINEOPLASTIC THERAPY: FORM CONSTRUCTION AND VALIDATION

SUMMARY:

Cancer is a major public health problem worldwide, and is considered one of the leading causes of death. The therapy chosen for this disease will depend on the stage and classification of the disease. However, some of these treatments are performed by the patient at home, through the administration of oral antineoplastic drugs, which is an extension of outpatient treatment. During the pharmaceutical consultation, these patients are instructed on the use of these drugs. This action promotes better results with pharmacotherapy, on the rational use of drugs, and helps with medication adherence. In this context, this study aims to build and validate a form for pharmaceutical consultation of patients using oral antineoplastic drugs. This is a methodological research, with a quantitative approach, based on Pasquali's Psychometric model, according to the following axes: theoretical pole, empirical pole, and analytical pole. In the theoretical pole, a scope review was carried out to support the construction of the form; at the empirical pole, the content and appearance were analyzed by pharmaceutical judges specialized in oncology, who evaluated the domains, items and subitems in relation to scope, clarity and representativeness. Finally, the analytical pole, which consisted of data analysis using the Content Validity Index (CVI), Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) and Cronbach's alpha. The research was submitted to the Research Ethics Committee, under CCAE nº 83305124.3.0000.5537, and was approved by opinion nº 7.091.052. The scoping review obtained 17 articles that allowed the construction of the initial form with 12 domains, 46 items and 23 subitems. This first version of the instrument was analyzed by ten judges and obtained a Cronbach's alpha of 0.792 and a total ICC of 0.781 [95% CI 0.855 - 0.946], indicating internal consistency and satisfactory reliability of the instrument. The IVC data obtained for all domains, items and subitems were ≥ 0.90 indicating high agreement of the content of the initial form among the evaluators. The judges' suggestions were evaluated and allowed the construction of the final version of the form. Thus, the proposed technological product demonstrated satisfactory rates and relevance for use in pharmaceutical consultation, being an instrument that will optimize pharmaceutical care, as it will encourage adherence to treatment and increase surveillance of adverse reactions and drug interactions, in addition to preventing avoidable health costs, thus contributing to improving treatment results and quality of life for people affected by cancer.
