SUMMARY:

INTRODUCTION: The Death Certificate is officially the first document that must be given to the family or the responsible person after the death of a loved one. Despite its importance, errors, incomplete data and imperfections in its filling are often found in this document, preventing the drawing up of the Death Certificate by the Civil Registry Offices. This fact leads the population to go to several institutions without knowing which service to turn to to solve the problem. OBJECTIVE: To build and validate an educational technology in printed and virtual formats to guide the population that uses health services in cases of errors, incompleteness or loss of death certificates. METHOD: Methodological research with a quantitative approach, which includes the elaboration and validation of an educational booklet. The study will be carried out in a Municipal Health Department in Rio Grande do Norte, in the Mortality Information System (SIM) sector. Experts with knowledge and still active in the subject of epidemiological surveillance/death surveillance will participate in the research, selected according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. The selection of participants will be carried out using intentional sampling. The study will take place according to the following steps: carrying out an integrative literature review; development of the text of the educational booklet; elaboration of the questionnaire and pre-test of the booklet; completion of the questionnaire for validation of the appearance and content of the protocol by the experts. For the analysis of data from the evaluation of the booklet, the calculation of the Content Validity Index will be used. This study will be carried out after approval by the Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte.
