smoking; substance withdrawal syndrome; mental health; complementary therapies; auriculotherapy.
Smoking is a major public health problem and reducing its prevalence is challenging. The desire to quit smoking involves multifactorial and quite complex aspects. People who wish to stop using tobacco deal with the symptoms of withdrawal syndrome, where anxiety and irritability are predominantly present. Objective: Deploy auriculotherapy to control anxiety in people who participate in a group to combat smoking, in a health service at a Federal University. Method: This is a Convergent Care Research (PCA), with a descriptive and exploratory character, with a qualitative approach. The population of this research corresponds to UFRN employees enrolled in the “healthiest without a cigarette” group. For data collection, an anamnesis script, semi-structured interview, Fagerström Test for Nicotine Dependence and Beck's Anxiety Inventory will be used. To carry out the data analysis, content analysis proposed by Minayo will be made. Expected results: to build a Standard Operating Procedure to deploy auriculotherapy in the group treatment for smoking cessation at UFRN, as a strategy to minimize the anxiety caused by the nicotine withdrawal syndrome and to contribute to comprehensive assistance in the fight against smoking.
