RESUMO:

Palliative care is considered a integral care for patients whose disease no longer responds to the treatment considered curative. It is a differentiated care approach that aims to improve the quality of life of the patient, his family and friends, through the relief of physical, psychological, social and spiritual suffering. In order for such integral care to be possible, it is necessary to involve a multidisciplinary team. Within this team we have the nursing professionals as key figures in this process, because they are the ones who take care of the patient full time, sharing their needs and their pain. Thus, during the permanent care with the patients, they reveal feelings of anguish, frustration and suffering, which are expressed as consequences of their choices, because they feel impotent and unprepared for care in terminality. The objective of this study is to analyze the feelings experienced by the nursing team that provides assistance to cancer patients in palliative care. This is an exploratory-descriptive study with a qualitative approach, which will be carried out in the oncology ward of a university hospital, with 10 nurses and 30 nursing technicians, totaling 40 participants. It will be used a semi-structured questionnaire, containing closed-ended questions about sociodemographic variables related to the interviewees, their training and functions in the team; after completing the questionnaire, focus groups will be held on the feeling experienced by the nursing team in the care of the terminally ill patient. The analysis will be performed according to the technique of analysis of thematic content of Bardin, adapted by Minayo. To conduct this research, an opinion will be requested from the Ethics and Research Committee (CEP) of UFRN, as recommended by Resolution nº466/2012 of the National Health Council (CNS) of the Ministry of Health, approved with Opinion Number: 2.603.456. CAAE 79084317.0.3001.5292
