biography; modern architecture; Geraldino Duda; professional trajectory
The research aims to raise and explain the professional trajectory of Geraldino Duda, discussing the network of professional connections that radiate and propagate the architecture that disseminates modernist ideals throughout the country to the Northeast region. In the field of modern architecture in Campina Grande-PB, it rescues the professional trajectory of a local modernist icon and dialogues with the historiography of these professionals who go through the development and urban reforms of the city, which was among the 12 most populous cities in Brazil in 1950 and represents an effusive point of economic, industrial, social and cultural influences in the Northeast region as a fertile field of modernity in the interior of Paraíba, a field where these professionals, sometimes designers, architects, urban planners and modernist engineers mainly between the years 1950 and 1970. Our cut is about the architect’s trajectory between 1950 and 2010. In two methodologies, it addresses the life history method for a sociocultural context analysis and a methodology based on the analysis of the works and the guiding perspective of his projects.
